She was genuinely interested in people of all ages, their ideas, and loved conversing with them. Irene and Jack were avid BYU football fans. They traveled to Provo and throughout the country attending regular season and bowl games until poor health forced her to view the games on TV. Her husband preceded her in death in April of 2000.

Survivors include her children, Rosemary Thompson of Salt Lake City (wife of Jerry Thompson), John Paul Millward of North Ogden (husband of Nancy Millward), and Jill Juchau, of San Jose, CA. (wife of Dan Juchau); 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Hawker and Sara Adele Knowlton, both of Salt Lake City and a brother, James L. Wrathall of Hillsborough, CA. Funeral services were held Saturday. October 12 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grantsville 3rd Ward, 415 West Apple St. Interment was in the Grantsville City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank those at Sandy Care Center who rendered compassionate care to Irene.
