17 Jan 1890 A very low average this week. Many children away through illness and those at school almost unable to work being weak and lacking in energy.

15 Nov 1901 This has been an exceptionally stormy week, yet through it all the children who have the farthest to come have been the ones who have never been absent. Bessie Haythornthwaite, a St. IV girl, who lives 3 miles away has made full attendance.
22 Aug 1902 Mabel Alderson brought a frog to school. It was placed in a glass jar so that the girls could watch it catch flies. Unfortunately, this summer flies are scarce.

26 Sep 1902 The sundew which Nanny Wrathall brought from Sedbergh, and which we have been trying to keep, has quite faded.
