Stephen WRATHALL

Died: On Monday last, aged 64, Mr. Stephen Wrathell, of this town, coal merchant.

Isaac WRATHALL (The Craven Herald Friday May 1st 1908)

WRATHALL:- April 22, at Nappa, Hellifield, Isaac Wrathall, late of Westhouse in his 72nd year.

John Sanford WRATHALL (The Craven Herald Friday April 9th 1943)

ON ACTIVE SERVICE
NAVAL SUB-LIEUTENANT MISSING
Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Wrathall of Sanbury, Bentham, have received official news that their second son, Sub-Lieutenant John Sanford Wrathall of the Royal Navy (27), is reported missing, presumed killed in action.
Sub-Lieutenant Wrathall joined the Navy in September 1940 as an ordinary seaman. He attended Bentham Grammar School under Mr. G.P. Gill. On leaving there he entered the service of the District Bank at Lancaster, Settle and Sedbergh. He passed the Bankers’ Institute final examinations just before joining the Navy. He married the only daughter of Mr. C.E. Parker of Ingleton in July last. He was on leave recently. He was a splendid swimmer and athlete, and for some time he was in St. Margaret’s Church choir, Bentham.

James WRATHALL (The Craven Herald 21st February 1947)

DEATHS
WRATHALL:- February 17 at 123,Rectory Road, Burnley, aged 64 years, James, youngest son of the late Robert and Ann Wrathall, late of Arncliffe. Cremated at Rochdale February 20

Nannie Jane HOLMES (née WRATHALL) (The Craven Herald 19th December 1947)

DEATHS
HOLMES:- On December 16 (suddenly), in Leeds General Infirmary, Nannie Jane (Nan) beloved wife of Frank Holmes, of 32, Brougham Street, Skipton, aged 57 years. Cortege leaves the house today (Friday) at 2pm for service in the Parish Church at 2.15pm, prior to interment at Waltonwrays Cemetery at 3pm. Friends accept this (the only) intimation.
EX-OFFICIAL BEREAVED
The death took place in Leeds General Infirmary on Tuesday, of Mrs. Nannie Jane Holmes, wife of Mr. F. Holmes, of 32, Brougham Street, Skipton, a former chief sanitary inspector to the Skipton Urban District Council.
Aged 57, Mrs. Holmes was a native of Burton-in-Lonsdale, first coming to Skipton over 20 years ago to teach in the infants department at the old National School in Otley Street. She was for many years actively associated with the Parish Church Sunday School and was, at one time, connected with the Child Welfare Clinic in a voluntary capacity.
The funeral takes place today (Friday), a service at Skipton Parish Church preceding interment at Waltonwrays Cemetery
