The Will of Susan (Susanna) Wrathall
19 October 1752

In the Name of God Amen. Be it remembered that I, Susan Wrathall of Grassington, Widow, being somewhat infirmed in body but of sound and disposing mind & memory do make this my last will & testament in manner following, that is to say, My will & mind is that my just detts discharged and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied by my Exor’x heireafter named, I give desire & bequeath unto William Wrathall my son and to his heirs and assings for ever one piece of a garden behind the Low Laith in the possesion of William Wrathall he paying thereout to each of his children twenty shillings in remembrance of me at my decese. I give desire & bequeath one thatched house and turf house adjoining to it in the possesion of Antone Millner and also one slated house on the back side of the house where I now dwell and one half of the garden and also one close on the high side of Strat (?) lane known by the name of scar paddock and also one other close called Flotter (?) garth unto Henary Wrathall my son for his life and after his decease to William Wrathall son of the said Henary his heirs and asings for ever chargeable with paying four shillings three pence Lord Rent yearly & every year. I do give desire & bequeath the house where I now dwell and barn and the other half of the garden and also one close and peice of scar and the paddock above horsstead (?) gap (?) yat (?) and also one other close called scar paddock on the low side of Strat (?) lane adjoining on James Hartley ground and a peice of ground called the Leas in Laith house Field in the possesion of Gorge Fell and also one other close called woodside close in the possesion of Richard Know unto Lupton Wrathall my son for his life and after his decease to William Wrathall his son his heirs & assings for ever chargeable with paying ten shillings Lords Rent yearly & every year and also I desire and charge these last mentioned premises with the payment of fifty pounds to Henary and Stephen Wrathall two younger sons of the said Lupton Wrathall equall betwixt them at the decease of there father Lupton Wrathall.

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret wife of William Bradfield and to her heirs and assings for ever the house adjoining to the house I dwell in and turfhouse belonging to it in the possesion of Gorge Fell and all the rest and resadue of my gods and chattells and personall and real estate be whatsoever and of what nature or kind soever I give unto the said Margaret Bradfield who I make the Sole Executor of this my last will except one teaster bed which I give to my son Lupton Wrathall in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19 Day of October 1752.
