In the name of God Amen The five & twenty day of September 1678 I John Wrathall of Grissington in the Parish of Linton in Craven in the County of York Shooemaker of perfect memory God be thanked for the same doe hereby ordaine my will and last testament in manner and form following First I give my soule to Almighty God my maker and to Jesus Christ my Redeemer trusting and believing by his Death and passion that my soule shall be saved and my body to be buried in the Church yard of Linton as ????? my ????? as may be Item itt is my will that all my debts which of right I owe shall be paid out of my whole goodes & funeral expences & charges of the provided? hereby Item I give to Anne Wrathall my wife one garth att her disposing for ever called Mitchell garth secondly I give to Anne my wife all my goodes houses and landes in Grissington for her life if? ??? she keepe? her? my wife And if she marry again to another man I give to my Sonne Martin Wrathall all my houses & landes in Grissington And his heirs Executors and Administrators for ever paying to my Daughter Margarett out of itt the summe of ten? poundes of currant money of England att the entring of the said landes And if the said Martin refuse to pay the sume herein mentioned as abovesaid I give to Margarett my Daughter all my houses & landes in Grissington & to her heirs for ever Item I appoint my wife Anne my sole Executrix of my last Will & Testament John Wrathall his mark Witnesses Henry Wrathall George Frankland (followed by one and a half lines in Latin)
