The Will of Lupton WRATHALL of Burnsall 22nd July 1790

In the name of God Amen I Lupton Wrathall of Burnsall in the County of York Yeoman being of a sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, First my will and desire is that my body be decently buried and all my just Debts and Funeral Expences paid by my Son William Wrathall. Also I give devise and bequeath to my Son William Wrathall all my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever lying and being within the Township of Grassington and County of York and to his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns for ever Subject to the payment of such legacies as are hereafter mentioned. Also I give and bequeath to my Son Richard Wrathall the Sum of Five pounds to buy a mowrning suit with to be paid to him by my Son William Wrathall at my decease. Also I give and bequeath to my Son Henry Wrathall his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of Twenty five pounds to _ paid to him twelve months after my decease, and Twenty five pounds to be paid to him within twelve months after the decease of Mary my Wife. Also I give and bequeath to my Son Stephen Wrathall his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of Forty pounds to be paid to him twelve months after my decease and Forty pounds twelve months after the decease of my Wife. Also I give and bequeath to my son John Wrathall his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns the Sum of Sixty pounds to be paid to him twelve months after my decease and Forty pounds twelve months after the decease of Mary my said wife. Also I give and bequeath to my Son Lupton Wrathall the Sum of Five shillings to be paid to him at my decease. Also I give and bequeath to my dear Wife Mary Wrathall all the Furniture and Household Goods in the House where I now dwell and the Cows and Hay and Husbandry Geers belonging to the Estate at Burnsall for her own proper use and behoof. And the Yearly Sum of Four pounds four shillings in lieu of her Thirds to be paid to her in two equal payments half yearly the first payment to be made six calendar months after my decease and continued to be paid half yearly during the Term of her natural life and for non payment of the same it shall be lawful for her and her Assigns to enter upon my Estate lying and being at Grassington aforesaid and to hold the same until the annuity aforesaid be fully paid and discharged. Also my will and desire is that my Son William Wrathall pay or cause to be paid unto my beloved wife the Sum of Two pounds ten shillings yearly and every year so long as my Grandson William Wrathall Son of Lupton Wrathall aforesaid shall continue to live with her. And I do hereby nominate and appoint my Son William Wrathall aforesaid sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills heretofore by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal, after the Inerlineation of the words (Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns) betwixt the Twelfth and Thirteenth lines from the beginning hereof and the word (Yearly) above the Twenty seventh line had been duly made on this Twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety – Lupton Wrathall X his mark.
