The Will of Stephen WRATHALL of Coniston 4 December 1821

In the Name of God Amen I Stephen Wrathall of Coniston near Skipton Yorkshire Farmer being of sound and disposing mind do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I will that all my just debts legacies funeral expences and the probate of this my will be paid by my Executors hereinafter named I then give and bequeath unto my two Daughters Mary and Margaret their heirs and assigns the sum of Two hundred pounds apiece one hundred pounds of which said sum shall be paid to them respectively within twelve months after my decease if they are of age and the remaining sum of one hundred pounds apiece shall be paid to them respectively at the decease of my beloved wife Sarah And whereas I have given to my Daughter Susannah Atkinson the sum of one hundred pounds and as it is my wish that my three Daughters portions should be equal I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Susannah Atkinson her heirs and assigns the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid to her at the decease of my said wife Sarah which together with the sum of one hundred pounds I have already given her makes the sum of Two hundred pounds but provided that any one or more of my said children die before the legacy or legacies become due to them leaving no lawful issue my will is that such legacy or legacies shall be divided share and share alike among the remaining legatees or their lawful children I also give unto my wife Sarah the Interest of Four hundred pounds during the term of her natural life which said sum shall be vested on good security to the satisfaction of my wife and the Interest paid to her at two half yearly payments the first to be made to her within six months after my decease and the second payment within twelve months and in like manner to be continued yearly and every year during the term of her natural life I also give unto her one good bed with curtains and bedding and all necessary furniture for her use of one Room All the rest remainder and residue of my property and Effects of whatever nature or description the same is or may be I give and bequeath to my son William Wrathall his heirs and assigns I also give and bequeath unto my Daughters Mary and Margaret to each of them one bed and bedding Lastly I nominate and appoint my son William Wrathall and William Atkinson of Otley joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills by me made As Witness my hand and seal this fourth day of December 1821 Stephen X Wrathall his mark Signed sealed published and declared by the Testator who in his presence and in the presence of each other and at his request we have subscribed our names as witnesses
