The Wrathall family is very proud to celebrate Veterans' Day by paying tribute
to their wonderful father and husband Philip Wrathall (9/4/15 - 11/1/02).
On February 17, 1941, Phil enlisted in the U.S. Army. There he applied
to attend Officers Candidate School. When he completed OCS he was made a 1st
Lieutenant in the 14th Armored Division, 500th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
He served at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Benning, Georgia, and in the European
Theater in WWII. Phil was inducted into and discharged from the Army at
Fort Douglas. His military service lasted exactly five years. Phil's
service in the Army was a very important part of his life. During his retirement,
Phil and his wife Betty attended numerous reunions of his Army Division.
They returned to Europe twice to visit sites where he served in WWII. .....

Arthur and Clara Wetzel Wrathall, he was a lifelong resident of Salt Lake
City. He graduated from West High School and the University of Utah with
a degree in Banking and Finance. He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II as a First Lieutenant in the 14th Armored Division, 500th Armored

Phil married Betty Bjorn on
May 17, 1952 in Tremonton, UT. ...... He was preceded in death by his parents,
all of his five brothers and two sisters, and one grandson. With his death,
a generation has ended.

I just returned from a trip to Tooele, UT to visit family and have come back with lots
of pictures. I have several pictures of Kathryn Eloise Core Wrathall, wife of Fred.
Eloise (that's what she was called by her friends), was a very close friend of both my
maternal Grandmother Florine Eliason Crawford and her sister Glenn Eliason Jensen, my
great aunt. Eloise went to school with my Aunt and I have sent you photos my Aunt kept
in an album (taken for the most part in the 1920s) of Eloise, including some pictures of
her wedding (my aunt was the maid of honor). As a young girl, my Mother knew Eloise's
son Robert William (they called him Bobby Bill).
