Irene Wrathall Millward (1916-2002)

Irene Wrathall Millward, wife of the late Jack Millward of Grantsville (1916 - 2000), passed away on Oct. 8, 2002 after a long illness. She was the first daughter of Paul E. (1887 - 1964) and Carrie (1888 - 1972) Wrathall, and she was a great-granddaughter of James Wrathall of Grantsville (1828 - 1896). Irene's genealogical information is located HERE .

Irene's funeral service was held on Oct. 12, 2002 in Grantsville. Click on the following ilinks to view the funeral program:

Pauline Wrathall Hawker, Irene's sister, provided the following description of the funeral service:
  1. John Millward led the congregation singing "How Great Thou Art".
  2. Saul Clark said the opening prayer.
  3. Jill Millward Juchau read the Obituary and made just a few remarks about her mother.[Click HERE for the text of the Obituary.]
  4. My sons Greg, Jeff, Tim and a friend Mike Cowley sang a beautiful arrangement of "Abide With Me, Behold 'Tis Eventide" They sang it well as they always do. I think you heard them at Jack's funeral.
  5. I spoke (exactly 10 minutes as requested). [Click HERE for the text of Pauline's speech.]
  6. Wendy Stam Waller sang a beautiful modern song, "I Heard Him Come, I Saw His Very Face" and it was lovely. She comes by her musical talent naturally. Her father, Tom Stam, is a professional singer who sings frequently in Salt Lake City theatre and musical productions. Her mother is our second cousin, Marge Sutton Stam, Claud and Emma Sutton's daughter.
  7. John Millward spoke about his mother's life and a brief review of the Plan of Salvation.
  8. Brother Knudson said a few words about the Resurrection.
  9. Suzanne Hawker and her 13-year-old daughter (who is almost as professional as her mother) played an absolutely gorgeous arrangement of "Joseph Smith's First Prayer". People were in awe of the talent of my granddaughter. I nearly busted a button or two for her and my daughter-in-law, who is a professional.
  10. The closing prayer was offered by John Millward's second son David.
  11. Jill's husband Dan Juchau dedicated the grave.
Irene would have been pleased with what transpired, I know. The funeral lasted about an hour and five minutes. The music was so beautiful that one person said that it was a wonderful way to spend and hour.
