H. L. WRATHALL
Mr Henry Lonsdale Wrathall, Frenchwood, Church-road, Huyton, and of Messrs. Wrathall and Co., chemical and general merchants, The Albany, Liverpool, died in London on Saturday afternoon with tragic suddenness. He went to London last week on business, and when he was going down the steps of the Waldorf Hotel to return home he uttered a cry, collapsed, and passed away. Up to that moment he had enjoyed splendid health.
Mr. Wrathall was exceedingly well known in Huyton and district, as he had always taken a great interest in the life of the district. He was a keen temperance advocate, frequently presiding over temperance meetings. He was a worshipper in the Huyton Congregational Church and took an active interest in the work of the Huyton and District Nursing Association, and in all work of a charitable and reform nature. He was the founder and member of the firm of Wrathall and Co., and a highly respected member of the Liverpool Exchange newsroom for forty years. In fact he was one of the few remaining members of what might be called the older generation of business men. For some years he was a member of the board of managers of the Royal Southern Hospital, Liverpool, and the Chairman for the past three years. He was also the treasurer of the Coronation Masonic Lodge, Liverpool.
He leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter.
The funeral took place at Roby Church on Wednesday afternoon. The Ven. Archdeacon G. J. Howson officiated, assisted by the Rev. F. A. H. Score. There was a choral service.
The chief mourners were Messrs. L. E. Wrathall and L. G. Wrathall (sons), and Messrs. A. Worthington and R. N. Cook (sons-in-law).
