EXTRACT FROM “THE HARRODIAN GAZETTE” SEPTEMBER 1936

Mr Wrathall, who left us at the end of July he could become General Manager and a Director of the Civil Service Stores, has a our very best wishes on his new appointment.

Coming as a student to Harrods from Cambridge in 1923, Mr Wrathall made exceedingly rapid progress. In 1924 he was appointed secretary to Sir Woodman, 1926 saw him promoted to Correspondence Manager, and in 1929 he became assistant to Mr Richard*. He was appointed manager of the Wholesale Group Buying Section in 1932, which post he held until his final appointment of Assistant Merchandise Manager in 1934.

Mr Wrathall's social activities in the Store where many: he was the founder and, at one time, Captain and Secretary of the Rugby Football Section, Chairman of the Dramatic Club and - until a few years ago - a very active member of the Operatic Society, in which he played many leading parts.

We wish him every success in his new surroundings.

* Mr Richard is Richard Burbidge, who later succeeded his father, Sir Woodnman Burbidge, as Chairman of Harrods.
