Further information on Westmorland Wrathalls:
In May and June 2006, John Wrathall Charnley of Worcestershire
(JWCHARNLEY(at)aol(dot)com) contributed the following information:
I came across your web-site almost by accident and was so impressed
with the extent of your research I felt I must respond in the hope that my
small contribution might be of interest or use.
My grandmother was Agnes Anise Wrathall, born 11/11/1859 - I have a copy
of her birth certificate. She was born in Kirby Lonsdale, Westmorland, England.
Her father was John Wrathall, born 1831, who farmed 213 acres. He married
Mary Mattinson Parker, and they had 4 children: my grandmother; Eleanor S.,
born 1862; William P., born 1865; and Anthony J., born 1867.
Agnes Anise married James Charnley (my grandfather) on 3/8/1881. They had
2 sons and a daughter, Gilbert (my father) born 6/6/1882, Anthony Wrathall
born 18/6/1885, and Mary born 16/4/1884.
As a Charnley, my son and I have traced our direct line back to 1590 and
are searching beyond. One further piece of personal info: my father Gilbert
Charnley was brought up by his grandparents, and I suspect the inclusion
of the Wrathall name in mine was his expression of gratitude to them.
