The Thirteenth Day of August
In the name of God Amen. I John Wrathall of Thorpe sick in body but in perfect mind and remembrance praised bee god do ordaine and make my last will and testament in maner and forme following First I comit my soule to Almighty god my maker saviour and redeemer and my bodie to the ground from whence it came and to be buryed in the parish Church or Church yard of Burnsall then my will and mind is that my debts shall bee discharged and paid out of the whole mooeveable goods and out of all the cropp of corne and hay in the house or on the fields and if this will not extend nor pay my debts then my will is that the residue of my debts shall be paide out of my lands and leases then my will and mind is that whereas I have foure daughters that I give freely for ever? to Florence and Dina my two daughters for their full filial and childs porcons? all that my lands and leases at Cippas? also my will and mind is that Jonie? my daughter for her full filial childs porcon? shall have paid yearely for foure yeares next following my decease five pound in the yeare out of my whole lands and leases my will and mind also is that Agnes Holme my daughter now the wife of Willm Holme for the revertions? of her full porcon? shall have paid ????
????? yeares after my decease ten pounds out of my lands and leases and if it fortune that my sonne and heir dye before hee come to lawfull yeares of age unmarryed and without issue lawfully begotten that then Agnes my daughter and her heires lawfully begotten and at the decease of my wife Elizabeth shall enter into all my lands and leases yeelding? and paying? unto all the rest of my children ????? one yeare after the said entrie the sum? of fourescore ponds and if Willm Holme or his heires refuse to pay the aforesaid sums that then my children shall enter into all that land and leases I bought of Robert Bouth and Stephen Tempest and my rent of Nappa and if Agnes my daughter dye without issue then my lands and leases to remaine to Florence and her heires yeelding and paying the aforesaid sum to the remainders as is aforesaid and for from one to another according to the intent and ?????? meninge of this my will and for lack? of heires to remaine to Anthony Richardson and his heires last of all I doo make Elizabeth my wife my whole Executrix to execute and performe this my will and I give for the performance hereof into her full power to occupie? all my goods lands and leases in charge in the forrest in Nappa until my sonne come to lawfull yeares of age and then when hee comes to lawfull yeares of age shee shall have but half of the lands and leases as is aforesaid duringe her naturall life and for all my husbandrye yeares I give to my sonne William after the decease of Elizabeth my wife
In testimony of this my will to bee my last will and testament those that follow have subscribed ??? marks and names the day aforesaid Ano Domini ibig Anthony Richardson Robert Tyme George Bomby and Willm ??????
Memorandum that it shall bee my will that whensoever any of those fower men shall come to any trouble in and about this will that they shall have their charges lawfully borne for ????? I doo sett my hand unto (followed by several lines in Latin which includes the date bicessimo die Decembre Ano Dmi Millius Sexcent decimo nono [20 December 1619]. The rest appears to refer to a Mr Webster the deacon of Craven.)
