In the Name of God Amen the fourth day of December Anno Domino Seventeen hundred & Eighty seven I William Wrathall of Thorp in the County of York and Parish of Burnsall in Craven in ye sd County infirm & Weak of Body but of perfect Remembrance (praised be God) do make this my last Will & Testament in Manner & Form following First & principally I commend my Soul into ye hands of Almighty God my Creatr trusting assuredly thro’ Jesus Christ my Saviour to obtain free pardon & remission of my Sins on earth & Eternal Salvation hereafter in Heaven I will yt my Body be buried in ye Parish Church of Burnsall aforesd so near my Wife & Kindred as conveniently may be & for my Temporal Estate wherewith God of his Great Goodness hath blessed me I dispose thereof as following & first I give all my Messuages Cottages Houses Farms Tenemts Lands Arable Meadow & Pasture Cattle Gates in Stinted pastures Commons Moors Messes & Turbarays Rents Reversions with their & every of their Appurts whereof I or any person or persons to my Use or any way in Trust for me is are or stands Seized situate or being in the Parish of Linton and Burnsall aforesd in the sd County of York or within ye Mannrs Townships or Liberty’s thereof or any of ye? or Elsewhere in the sd County of York ye Reversion and Reversions & ye Remaindr & Remaindrs thereof to my only Son William Wrathall I give all & singular ye sd Messuages Cottages Farms Tenemts Houses Lands Heredmts with their & of their appurtenances in Burnsall & Linton aforesd & both? of ye sd Mannrs Townships Liberty’s Territories thereof to my beloved Son & Heir Wm Wrathall of Thorp for to be chargeable with such Annual Rents & Paymts as shall hereafter in this my last Will & Testament Limitt & Appoint (that is to say) I Give unto my dear Daughter Mary Hebden the Sum of Fifty pounds of lawful Money of England to be paid six years after the date of this Also unto my dear Daughter Susannah Wrathall I give unto her one hundred & Fifty pounds of lawful Money of England to be paid unto her when she arrives at the Age of Twenty Six Years But if my aforesd Daughter Susannah Wrathall dies before She arrives at the Age of Twenty Six Years my Mind is that her Portion or Legacy to be pd by my Son Wm Wrathall to my aforesd Mary Hebden or her Heirs the above mentioned Portion or Legacy to be paid out of ye Messuages Cottages Houses Farms Tenemts Lands Arable Meadows Pastures Heredmts with their & every of their appurtenances in Linton & Burnsall aforesd or with the Townships Territories & Liberties thereof But Subject & liable for such Paymts & Charges as I shall hereafter in this my prest last Will express & declare (that is to say) my Will & Mind is that my sd Daughter Susannah Wrathall to be maintained out of the Land aforesd till she be married or become possessed of the above Legacy or Portion which will be at the Expiration of her Twenty Sixth year of her age Item I do desire that the Household Stuff as Plate Pewter Brass Bedding Arks Chests Trunks Desks Linnen with all ye Household furniture to be equally divided amongst all my three Children my Mind is that my Son William Wrathall keep my Husbandry Gear for his own use The Residue & Remainder of my Estate Lands Tenemts Heredimts with my Goods Chattles Plate & Arrears of Rent with all other Properties of what Kind soever to me appertaining I give devise & bequeath to my Son Wm Wrathall whom I constitute & appoint the whole & sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament & do hereby appoint my Son Wm Wrathall he paying all my Just Debts & Funeral Expences & Legacies I do hereby utterly revoke disallow & disannul? all former Wills & Legacies by me declaring & confirming this to be my last Will & Testamt either by Word or Writing by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Day first above Written William Wrathall (image of seal) Witnesses John Hodgson Joseph Craishaw John Wildman
