Yorkshire Census Records
Derek Wrathall of Skipton has been working on extracting Wrathall data from census
records for Lancashire and West Ryding, Yorkshire. The determination of
John James Wrathall's (Rhodesia) lineage and Hamish Lonsdale's
(Victoria) was due to Derek's work on the Westhouse 1851 census, which
is available HERE . Derek
mentioned the following with regard to this census:
[These] are the 1851 census records of WRATHALLS which appeared in
Thornton-in-Lonsdale, which includes Westhouse, Low Bentham, Ingleton
and Ingleton Fells. There were no WRATHALLS in Burton-in-Lonsdale, High
Bentham, Clapham-with-Newby, Austwick or Lawkland. Where there is a +
sign against occupation it means there is more information, usually the
number of men employed or acreage of farm. With time I will work my way
through all the relevant 1851 records.
Another linkage as a result of this census is the determination of the
parents of Jeremy Wrathall's (Surrey) ancestor Susan Wrathall. In
addition, when reviewing the 1841 and 1851 census data for Bordley,
Derek came across information on the family of James Wrathall of Utah.
