WRATHALLS OF SUFFOLK
Helen Kenna of Ipswich relates the following:
Thanks for your reply via the Wrathall site. I have obtained some more
detailed information from my mum on our immediate branch of the family
which I have finally got around to passing on.
My great-grandfather was JOHN W. who was originally from Liverpool, his
family kept cattle there and supposedly the cattle lived downstairs in
the house. He was married three times and fathered eight children.
His first wife was also from Liverpool and no-one seems to know her
name, she was the mother of FRANK, JIM and JOHN. His next wife was
FRANCES VIOLET (no maiden name I am afraid) and she was the mother of
STEVEN (my grandfather, born approx 1900) EDDIE, JENNY and HARRY. His
third wife was ALICE MAY and she mothered ALICE (born 1909). Alice is
the only surviving child and lives with her daughter SUSAN near
Durham.
At some stage after the death of his first wife John moved to Hyde where
he ran the local Fire Service, he died around the time of WW1 and is
buried in Hyde Cemetery. I believe John had a number of brothers one of
whom may be Roy's grandfather??
Steven moved to Suffolk, married and had two sons, PETER WILLIAM and
JOHN EDWARD (my father) both of whom are now based near Ipswich.
Eddie had two sons JIM and ALAN. Jim married June and had Sally and
Timothy (married to Katie). Alan has three children Moyra, Ian and Neil
and lives near Cambridge
Mum has promised to post me more details as most of the above was
dictated down the phone one evening as she remembered it.
..... I have managed to get
some more detailed information on the family tree. Some of this will
overlap with data you already have but it shows that we are definitely
cousins of some sort.
