My grandfather, Frederick Gardiner, apparently spent alot of his time herding sheep from about 1894 to 1900. He and John Percy Wrathall must have been friends. According to the 1900 U.S. Census, Frederick Gardiner was boarding with John P. Wrathall in Summit County, Utah while working as a sheep herder (Castle Rock, Utah Precinct). Also, John P. Wrathall was listed as a potential witness on my grandfather's homestead entry. In addition, Percy is listed next to my grandfather in the 1910 U.S. Census. Both of them are listed as "Herder foreman" on the census (Bridge, Idaho precinct). Apparently, at that time they were working for Kehoe Brothers (not sure of the spelling). My dad remembers Frederick talking about Percy Wrathall. In Apr. 2005, Rootsweb had a section titled WORLD WAR I CIVILIAN DRAFT REGISTRATIONS, Cassia County, Idaho - 1917-1918 , which was indexed and submitted for use by the USGenWeb Project and IDGenWeb Project Archives by Raymond H Banks, on 23 January 1998. One of the pages had this listing:If you know of anyone that has some information about Frederick (Fred) Gardiner, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.
