At the moment I am corresponding with Hamish Lonsdale, courtesy of the Australian section of the website, who sent a photo of Reginald John Wrathall [click here to view the photo, signed by Sybil Holden, Berkhamstead]. I recently joined the Liverpool & S. W. Lancashire Family History Society, as that area features in many branches of both my own and my wife's family. When my areas of interest were published, I had a letter from another member who is trying to write a mini-biography of those men from the Huyton area (Hamish's birthplace) who fell in WW1. One of these was Reginald John WRATHALL, whose name I had seen on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. The member, Robert O'Brien, had quite a bit of information and I was intrigued to see that R. J. W.'s father was Henry Lonsdale WRATHALL. That rang a bell, and I looked up the information from H. L. W.'s grandson, Hamish. I haven't got all the information into my computer yet but will pass it on in the next few days. A bonus is that we will be passing Hamish's home on our trip to Australia in November and hopefully will meet up with him... He is trying to find a photograph of R. J. WRATHALL to go with Rob O'Brien's biography. At the moment we are using a process of elimination going by regimental badges and badges of rank. Also in July 2001, Derek sent a transcription of the funeral report for Reginald John Wrathall; click here to read it. Derek provided further information surrounding Reginald's untimely demise:
